Standardized Assessments


Iowa Assessments (Grades 1–8)

  • Administered annually as part of the Archdiocese of Atlanta assessment program.
  • Measures student achievement in core academic subjects, including Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Compares student performance with national norms and grade-level expectations.
  • Provides valuable data to evaluate individual student growth and the effectiveness of our academic programs.
  • Results help teachers make informed instructional decisions and identify opportunities for enrichment or additional support.

Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) (Grades 2, 5, & 7)

  • Administered annually to students in second, fifth, and seventh grades.
  • Measures students' reasoning and problem-solving abilities rather than learned academic knowledge.
  • Assesses verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning skills.
  • Helps educators better understand each student's learning potential and instructional needs.
  • Used alongside achievement data to provide a comprehensive picture of student learning.

Assessment of Children/Youth Religious Education (ACRE) (Grades 1–8)

  • Administered annually through the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).
  • Measures student understanding of Catholic teachings, Scripture, sacraments, prayer, morality, and Church traditions.
  • Assesses students' knowledge and growth in religious education.
  • Supports teachers in strengthening faith formation and religious instruction while fostering students' spiritual development.

i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment (Kindergarten–Grade 8)

  • Administered three times each school year (Beginning, Middle, and End of Year).
  • An adaptive assessment that adjusts the difficulty of questions based on student responses, providing an accurate picture of each child's current skill level.
  • Measures student achievement in Reading and Mathematics.
  • Identifies individual strengths and areas for growth down to specific skills.
  • Creates personalized learning pathways that meet students where they are and support continued academic progress.
  • Enables teachers to monitor student growth throughout the year and differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Provides families with meaningful reports that show student progress over time and help establish goals for continued success.
